Like Led Zeppelin I ? Grab a top loaded Tele and this glorious amp to NAIL the tone that's been in all electric guitar player's heads for the past 52 years!
This Standard production model (see below) has been our shop demo for the past year, with the purpose of having a place where curiosity seekers could try before they ordered from Mitch Colby's team directly. That is still the case - make an appointment to visit our Morristown NJ showroom. It is in excellent condition, not pushed too hard, but the speaker and tubes sound even more sweet now that it's had some break-in time.
This Standard is the non-signed version, not the Limited Edition first 50 amps that Jimmy signed. We have had one of those in the shop as well. As amazingly cool and historically significant as that amp is, this one pretty much sounds the same....and that is awesome ! Ships in original boxe(s).
Oh - and notice that 2010 Gibson Jimmy Page "Number 2" Signature Les Paul Aged by Tom Murphy Serial #2/100 in the last pics...we also have that for sale in our shop!
From the website:
Sundragon is the result of a collaboration between Jimmy Page, Perry Margouleff and Mitch Colby. It is a faithful recreation of the amplifier Jimmy Page used exclusively to create the groundbreaking sounds on Led Zeppelin 1 and other notable recordings. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy would like to present Sundragon, an amplifier that gives guitarists the opportunity to enjoy the sounds he created to shape the future of Rock and Roll.
Jimmy’s original amplifier started out life as a Supro Coronado. While on tour with Neil Christian the amplifier fell out of the band’s van. Not willing to give up on his beloved Supro, Jimmy had it restored. At that time the amplifier was also modified in significant ways. Jimmy realized that the sonic palette had changed to something new and unique. After being shrouded in mystery for more than 50 years, Jimmy has decided to share this extraordinary amplifier with the world.
" I had been impressed with the forensic analysis both Mitch and Perry had put into the research of the sonic reproduction of the original Supro amp to arrive at the Sundragon."
— Jimmy Page
“Based on the overwhelming response to the limited edition Sundragon amplifier, I am pleased to announce that we will be producing a standard production model Sundragon amplifier.“ Jimmy Page
The Sundragon “Standard” model amplifier is our second edition of the original amplifier Jimmy Page used to create the groundbreaking sounds on Led Zeppelin 1. It is built with the same unique circuit and delivers the sound and feel of Jimmy’s 1959 Supro that was modded over 50 years ago.
In order to recreate that iconic sound, we have incorporated carefully selected components and construct the amp as it was originally built with its separate preamp and power amp chassis. Each speaker is broken in to further ensure proper response. The Sundragon Standard uses original specification power and output transformers built by the actual original manufacturer. In addition, the unique circuit is built the same way as in Jimmy’s modded 1959 Supro. It is point-to-point hand-wired on terminal strips with each component soldered from one terminal to the other.
No other amp can deliver the level of accuracy of Jimmy’s sound and the satisfying distinctive tonal experience that Sundragon provides.
