1963 Gibson ES-335TDC Cherry
Previously owned by world renowned blues/rock player Popa Chubby. In his illustrious career, Ted traveled the world with an astute eye towards collecting vintage guitars. This wonderful instrument, with its Clapton-era appointments delivers the tones that we all want to hear!
The original patent number pickups are strong and clear, measuring 8.37 neck and 7.95 bridge respectively, drive your tube amp really well! Check pics of the backs. The covers may have been off at one time (our guess is late 70s/early 80s, when that was a thing), but have been professionally and neatly reinstalled.
Neck measures .79 at 1st fret, .92 at 12th, neither too fat, nor a blade neck....just right.
Original frets have plenty of life, measuring .037 high at the most typically used location. 1.0 wide...again, just right.
The guitar originally sported a Bigsby with a "Custom Made" plaque (both included with the guitar) affixed over where the studs for tailpiece would go. As with nearly all from this era (especially post Clapton/Cream Albert Hall), a conversion to stop tailpiece was done and all related Bigsby holes were doweled (see pics). The tailpiece is a Faber Unplated Aluminum TP-'59 Stop Tailpiece, which really sounds great. The original nylon saddled bridge remains intact
Ships in a newer, non-original Gibson case.
Enjoy !
